Hooray for Me!

Yesterday I opened the Ky&Company shop on Etsy. A long time coming, (thanks to all of you that nudged me to finally do it) I mustered up the courage to put all that I've got out there. No simple task if you ask sheepish little me.

Almost as quickly as I posted my projects, I had one of them sold. I would have sworn it was a family member trying to give me a hand in this crafty adventure I have taken quite the shine to.

But no! It was to a wonderful stranger! Some lovely family out there has my very first sold creation on it's way to their home, where I hope they have the perfect child waiting for an absolutely adorable little blanket.

Oh, I am so excited, and now so motivated to continue. I'm headed down to my 'shop' with Lucy to take a peek at my stacks of fabric and dream up some more things I can make and add to my collection.

So thank you thank you thank you to all of you that encouraged me, all of you that supported me, and all of you that are promoting me now. I am so grateful again, for such a great bunch of people in my Company.

(On a side note...I was so worried about the shop and the appearance and the products, that I was not prepared at all for an immediate sale. Though my blanket did make its way to the post office yesterday, it was certainly done after some crazy running around town for packaging and shipping supplies. Again, who knew this was going to be so business-y? I thought I'd just be sewing and crafting!!)

The E Myth said...

Welcome to the wonderful world of entrepreneurship! You assume you'll spend most of your time creating whatever products and/or services you intend to sell but soon realize that's not going to be the case. You've all the rest of the business stuff to contend to as well.

To compare it to sewing:the time you actually spend using the sewing machine will be like the amount of time you spend crafting. The rest (shopping for material, cutting, pinning, finishing, etc.) will all be business stuff (accounting, marketing, shipping, tracking, customer relations, etc.). Still priceless to be your own boss and set the tone, level of service, etc., etc., for your company!
