Yesterday Rex, Lucy & I had a play date. It was supposed to be a big water slide party, but the rainy July weather made us switch plans to bike riding, baseball, and arts and crafts. No biggie for us, we found plenty to do and had loads of fun making some new friends.
Rex played some baseball, blew bubbles, played on the swing set, drew with chalk, learned to play badminton, rode scooters, and all after he finished his entire lunch without me saying one word. He made quick friends with a fellow March 1 birthday boy. The two strangers were best buds after they found out only one year separates them from having the exact same birthday. I honestly could not tell you how many times I heard 'When Dylan turns 7, I will turn 6 because his birthday is March 1st too.' I think he told everyone he came in contact with.
Lucy was again the baby show stopper. While other babies sat quietly playing, she crawled around and made her growling noises. At one point she tried to use a stationary baby as leverage to stand. (Didn't work.) Then later when she was being grabbed by a bigger girl, she just took it in stride and kept on playing. When the big girl started crying after being told to leave Lucy alone, the other 8 month old baby cried too. Not Lucy, she laughed and started clapping. Wonder what sort of indicator that is about her personality?
