Guessing you were wondering where I have been...and I'm guessing you knew I was working, but the E fam has been up to SO much more in the last two months while I have been neglecting my dear blog. (So much for keeping resolutions...at least am not feeling as guilty as I would have if I attempted to swear off chocolate and carbs for a year...)
Here's a little update on the crew, 'cause I know you've missed us!
Nate...is a punk. He is now 14 and as smart an ass as I have ever known a smart ass to be. But, he is also FUNNY. Example: He is currently preparing for two projects at school, one in science and one in comp. For science, he must create an informative postcard about the animal of his choice. Of course his choice is the Dhole (pronounced dole, just don't tell his teacher that because she thinks it is called a D-Hole). This foxy little dogish animal has many interesting characteristics, perfect for the mind of a young teen. (Google it, and you'll see what I mean.) Project 2 is a persuasive essay attempting to prove his stance on a debatable topic. Nate checked out 5 books on Bigfoot, and is now working with Turbo to solve their favorite mystery. I don't think either one of them has ever been more excited about doing research!
Rex continues to be as active and entertaining as ever, though we are starting to see less of our little guy and more of the big kid he is quickly turning in to. He has blossomed into a fantastic reader, a math whiz, and a darn good storyteller. As his Christmas gift, Aunt Patti and I took him for snowboarding lessons and I don't think I have seen the kid more eager to learn ever. He took to it like a natural, and now even as the weather is warming he is out practicing moves on his skateboard that he can use next winter. In February we were also very pleased to finally get a few questions answered about some of his recurring medical issues. After a whole lot of pokes and patience, we were able to rule out any allergies and get a solid diagnosis for asthma. Not exactly good news, but we are now able to control and monitor his symptoms, something we have not been able to come close to accomplishing since this all started 3 years ago.
Lucy, oh Lucy. It is hard to put into words how this little lady of ours has changed the way we do things. She is everything a girly girl is expected to be - obsessed with painted nails, jewelry, dresses and shoes and pretty hair and princesses. But she is also one of the meanest, most stubborn, and precocious children I have ever known. Of course, there is the horribly undeniable fact that she is adorable and hilarious, two things that she kills us with whenever we try to scold her. I've got many many stories to share about her right now, but I think they deserve their own postings, so I'll hold off a bit and make you sweat it out...
Turbo and I are up to the same old shenanigans. Nothing new to report from our end.
(Well, I did just get this awesome new purse, that Lucy and I feel in love with instantly, but Turbo and the boys hate it, but I still can't wait to use it, but I know Turbo and the boys will tease me, but it is so cute that I kinda don't care right now. Really, it is pretty sweet. Even though it is a purse. But, in it's defense, it is a BLUE purse. And not just any blue, but this pretty patent leather, robin's egg blue that is perfect for spring, and I really can't wait to use it. Even though it is just a purse and I really (really) am not so shallow that I think a new purse is that important, but it is kinda like getting a new pair of shoes you love for no real reason other than sometimes you just really love a cool new pair of shoes because sometimes a new pair of shoes (or patent leather blue purse) is so perfect that you can't help but feel a little shallow for no real reason. Oh, and it was on sale, 30% off, so I also feel like I got a deal. Even though Turbo saw the receipt and thinks I got ripped off.)
